Scripture says when we become
born again Christians that old things are passed away; behold all things
we have become new. (II Cor.5:17) If all things become new for the
Christian, surely this includes relationships between guys and girls.
Christian relationships should differ from non-Christian relationships/. We
are urged by Scripture to think differently: Don’t let the world around
you squeeze you into its own mold, but let God remold your minds from within…(Rom.
12:2)
We should
love the word of God and to think godly thoughts about all of life. We must
learn to sift modern day dating practices and entertainment through the word
of God: Test everything. Hold on to the good. ( I Thes. 5:21) The
Bible actually says nothing specifically about dating because in ancient
cultures young men and woman did not date socially. The Bible uses no worlds
like “ Boyfriends” or “steadies” The Bible does encourage us to
treat…younger men as brothers…and young women as sisters ( I Tim.
5:1-2). This may seem extreme to us because our contemporary culture has
wandered so far from this standard.
